When installing an aftermarket/performance camshaft into a vehicle with either an L76 or L77 6L V8 it would be advisable to remove the displacement on demand (Active Fuel Management) components.
Although the AFM/DOD engine was orginally only paired with the Automatic Transmission (from 2008), its also found in the VZ Thunder Utes (L76), and all variants of the new series 2 commodores (2010-on) in 6.0L are all fitted with an L77 engine, manual and automatic transmission.
The most simple way to find out what engine is in your customers vehicle is to check the build plate in the engine bay.
